hi im using AE cs3…how do i import 3d camera infor into AE?…the 3d systems are sxi and maya…what should their extensions be and when i import it , how do i attach the 3d camera info to the AE camera?…

the reason is we r doing a project that requires 3d to render smoke but 3d has alot of other shots to take care of so im wondering if i can help out by using one of particular’s smoke presets but i need to apply the 3d camera move into my AE…

    help appreciated…cheers…kuaishou…

AE accepts .ma files from Maya. However, I’ve always had issues with the scale of the moves when imported into AE, which I’m sure has something to do with the coordinate system or some kind of required scaling of values… But I don’t know how to get around it as I’m not entirely familiar with Maya, I was only being supplied the .ma files.

If you’re more familiar with Maya, maybe you have some ideas about how to get the export to play nice with AE.

    From Adobe’s help:

As far as I understand it, the scale issue is a result of a mismatch between the units in AE and Maya. For example, AE uses pixels as its standard unit of measurement (distances are measured in pixels), where as Maya uses god only knows what. As I said before, I’m not very familiar with Maya, but I would be shocked if there weren’t some way to account for this when you’re exporting your baked data from Maya.
