I created several files in Illustrator CS5, saved them with layers and imported into After Effects CS5 as compositions with cropped layers. I work in after effects with no problem. When I leave the application and re-open the project later, the layer content disappears. I can see each layer as an empty transparent layer. And it does not matter if I relink it… It’s still empty… I did not make any modification to the illustrator file and never reopened it since it was created. This happens on different machines and with every Illustrator file. Any idea?

    — System used (Illustrator CS5, After Effects CS5, OSX 10.6.8)

It’s seems to be related to multiple artboards…
Illustrator “video” presets come with 2 artboards… deleting one of the artboard solved the problem (as well as exporting to a legacy illustrator version prior to cs4)
