  • Imported HDV file has no audio after 8min?

I am trying out Vegas 9, and am having a problem with a HDV file.

I use a Canon MiniDV camcorder to record in HDV format (1440×1080, 25p). I have imported the clip using Premiere Pro, which saves it as an .MPEG file. I have no problems with this clip in Premiere Pro.

I have imported the MPEG clip into Sony Vegas, and the video is fine, but the audio cuts out after 8m 21sec (it’s a 60min clip). It’s like Vegas never bothered to render the audio in full.

Anyone have a suggestion to fix this?

I suggest you place the original HDV footage in Vegas and see if it shows the whole hour. If so, it’s possibly something Premiere Pro has done in it’s MPEG file that is messing Vegas up. Try rendering it to an intermediate format like Cineform if you are going to transfer between programs. Otherwise, I would just edit the whole thing in Vegas. 😉
