Imported HD QTs from firestore audio is importing but not playing please help

what were settings. There could be no audio on the clips, if the FS-100 is set to VFR, I’m pretty sure no audio is recorded.

if you play the clip in QT Player do you see any audio meters jumping.

As far as my QTs are concerned I shot them a bit haphazardly and have since taken your advice and got a bit more organised with my files on the FS so that they now record in P2 which I then organise.

The QTs and now the imported P2s both seem to have the same problem, I’m guessing it’s an easy answer but I don’t know it, the problem is that they have audio in the browser and I can hear them perfectly, but as soon as they’re on the timeline the audio, whilst appearing to be there, can’t be heard. The level meter on the right is not doing anything either.

I have experimented with leaving all audio tracks switched on and with just 1 & 2 or 3 & 4 switched on, also with locking thme.

Sound like a fs mismatch. Check the sample rate of the clips and make sure you timeline matches.

How do I check the sample rates and how do I make sure the timeline matches? And how do I ensure that I stay matched in the future?

Look at the clips info in the bin, how many audio channels does it say it has, what format are they.

But you really need to stop doing anything, you are just jumping around and not knowing where you have been or where you are going. Spend a day reading the camera’s manual (Barry Green’s book if you have that) and the manual for the Firestore. Once you have the settings down all this is pretty straight forward.

Did you ever resolve this problem? I have the fs-100. Recorded from my Panasonic AGX-170. My quicktime files won’t play any audio in QT or FCP 6 eventhough audio is there (playback through camera fine). I’ve had to resort to playing from the fs-100 through the camera out the analog audio to dvcam tape to capture to matchin up frames. fs-100 support is non-existent.

I did sort this problem out George, but it was quite a while ago and I can’t remember exactly how.

What I would say is check all the settings on the FS and check the manual for the settings your camera should be on.

On the FS make sure the E symbol is on before you start recording, press the tape button if it isn’t. Make sure in record mode it is set to normal in HDD mode make sure you’re set to dvcpro/dv Rec and that tapeless is selected in the functions.

Also I know it sounds silly but if everything seems right check your connection between the FS and camera and the firewire going into the fs, unfortunately these connections are sub-standard and though the box itself is great the connections let it down.

I’m investing in some L shaped jacks, I’ve been told those are so much better.
