  • Important Feature Request regarding Video Output!

    Aloha brilliant BMD/Davinci engineers!

I love Resolve more than my wife and kids*, but I beg and plead with you to add the ability to have FCP and Resolve running at the same time, and allow Resolve to give up control of my Decklink card without having to quit Resolve!

I have found it to be insanely cumbersome to playback review a film for a client in FCP, then when they ask to tweak a certain shot, I have to turn off Video Output in FCP, restart Resolve, do the tweak, render and then shut down Resolve again, just so I can regain playback control in FCP.

Because I’m working on a huge film project, all my scenes are broken out into different projects, so the easiest way to play the grades in context is to switch back to FCP and play everything back in context with audio & effects.

If you could add the ability to disable video output in Resolve without having to shut it down completely, it would be a HUGE timesaver. FCP, Apple Color, After Effects, Motion, Nuke, et. al can all do this, so it’s a bit sad that Resolve can’t do this.

(*Exaggerated for literary effect. I dont really have a wife or kids)

There is a quick workaround for this – just switch to the deck tab (don’t press connect). When you are back in resolve and go to color page, decklink output will come alive.

    It should be automatic though.

While we’re at it, I too would like to ask for a favor.
I use Smoke on the same computer as Resolve. That wold also apply to PPro, Avid MC5 etc.
Every time I change the application, I have to change monitor feeds between GTX285 and GT120. Pretty annoying. Any ideas?

    DVI switchbox ?
If you can, of course…I have a (stupid) Apple Cinema display with miniDP only, so no GTX card can feed it.

    A slice of color…
