Import XD cam into FCP?
Sorry if this is already answered on another thread, but newbie for XD cam into FCP here. Shot material on a PMW 350 and have the files transferred the contents of the camera card onto the mac in a neat folder. I see lots of files in this folder. I downloaded the Sony XD cam browser which added the XD cam to the import selection on FCP (using Version 7).
I try and import the individual files from the FCP import menu but am getting a file error. Files play on the camera (which looks terrific) so I know the content is there.
What additional software/workflow do I need to access or follow?

Hi Tim,
You need the SONY Transfer tool to rewrap the MP4 files as editable QT files.
DON’T MESS WITH THE BPAV FOLDER.
You need that folder structure to makke work the SONY Transfer.

What is the error?
There is a specific xdcam forum that Ian cook keeps an eye on…he’s a the Sony guy for xdcam, u might repost there.

Once you have installed the SONY Transfer, in FC, you have to Log&Transfer to ingest the XDCAM/QT files.
You can run the SONY Transfer as stand alone as well; then import the files to FC.
Conform your sequence to the footage, and change the sequence codec for Prores. Rendering will be faster.
