Import video/flicker problem on import
Hello,
Weird question. When I import video from digital camcorder using firewire cable to computer and use premiero pro cs3, the bottom line is flickery/wavy. It is very small and most people probably wouldn’t notice. Here is problem: When playback on dvd for a tv it does not show up. When playback in a computer dvd player it shows up. I know that is the resolution size. Any thoughts on why it come in on my imports?? No line when watch on the camcorder itself??? I use the standard dv setting for import/capturing. Should I try changing the frames per second, bit rates??? Any thoughts? I have two camcorders and they both do it 🙂

This is likely an issue with the camcorder itself. I have seen those on consumer DV camcoders in the past. You have a few options. I would apply the crop effect and set the bottom to .3 or enough to cover the line. Add one to the top as well if you like things to be symmetric. You can also crop with Adobe Media Encoder, which will be applied to the entire sequence.
You could also zoom in the footage using motion settings, but that may affect the overall quality a bit.

It’s called Interlacing. Don’t worry about it. Cover the bottom and top of the clips with a layer above all with a small amount of black bar top and bottom only need about 3pixels each end.
If this is for TV don’t worry about it. It’s normal. If you want it on computer you’ll need to crop.

Thanks for the info. What type of player for capturing would you suggest. I have hi8/digital 8, mini-dvd tapes. Is there a high end camera or stand alone player, or certain type of converter that might eliminate this???
Also, have you heard of neat video it is a 3rd party plugin. It says it cleans up images/film?? Some of the hi-8 tape is graining, wondering if this would help or if you have other suggestions.
