import stl files into final cut
Posted by Katie Flynn on February 5, 2009 at 12:26 amI have a client who wants quicktime files with subtitles, is there a way to import stl files into final cut and export the video with the subtitles? or are there any external programs that can do this? Thanks

February 5, 2009 at 1:51 amI don’t think MacCaption can work with stl files, but I’m not sure. At any rate it is worth checking out as it’s an awesome little program. Call them and talk to them, they are good people.

February 5, 2009 at 7:29 pmYou might want to find the FCP feedback folder on apple.com and suggest subtitle support. With ADA coming online seriously in 2009-2010, I think all forms of accessibility are going to be universal features in all content creation and playout applications.
You amy already know this stuff but I usually post this collection of links to subtitle and captioning inquiries:

April 8, 2009 at 11:49 pmI know I’m late on this.
So just for the records.
You can use my TitleExchange to bring STL files into Final Cut Pro. So that’s one thing. With that you will have burned in subtitles which may not the thing the customer wants.
What you also can do is to convert the STL to QuickTime text or Smile using TitleExchange.
Another option is to convert to the SRT format using TitleExchange and use iSubtitle to create soft subtitles for several languages.Andreas
