Import screen mov files of computer program
Posted by Gmueller on August 23, 2007 at 5:34 pmI try to import screens shots of a computer program in action but it is jumpy and blurry. The quicktime file looks good but not after importing.

August 23, 2007 at 6:21 pmWhat are you using to record the action? Camtasia is what most folks use with great success. There are setting adjustments in the program so you can match the settings for your Avid project.

August 24, 2007 at 5:29 pmI do this a lot from mov’s created in camtasia. The biggest problem that you’ll run into is that most screen resolutions (frame sizes) are much higher than video. The avid will scale video down to fit in 720×480 and often the text and other small details become unreadable or blurry.
You can avoid some of the mess by creating the screen records with a low screen resolution like 640×480 or only recording a 640×480 portion of the screen (camtasia will allow you to do this). Of I have files that have already been recorded, I take them into After Effects, and drop them into a 720×480 comp, rescaling to fit and/or doing any number of pan & zoom kinds of effects to enlarge portions of the screen. Then export these from AE and import into Avid to cut into the show.Erik
