Hey everyone, I have a small problem. Adobe Premiere CS3 can’t find any camera I hook up to it. I’m trying to import video from a Firewire cable that connects to my camera, but everytime I try it tells me that my device is off.

However, when I go into Vegas or some other video program (even a web cam program) it works perfectly fine, and I can control the camera with ease.

Any idea why Premiere Pro CS3 would be the only thing giving me a problem, any idea how to fix this? I would really rather not import in Vegas and edit in PPro.

When I try to start my own car, it does not run.
When I try my neighbor’s car, it runs OK.

Any idea how to fix this?

Maybe some more details are in order…..

That’s completely different. It’s the same machine, one program can view the camera while PPro cannot.

It’s a firewire cable running to the computer, I don’t know details you need beyond that. If it’s working on one program, it’s not a camera nor computer problem, it’s the software problem.

Just to confirm: You are using the camera in VTR mode, right?

I’m not to sure, how would I know if I was or not? If not, how would I use it?

Project settings, hardware, software, including OS, disk configuration, camera, etc.?

    By reading the manual.

It could be something as simple as device control settings. In Edit preferences (device control) you have some options for camera/vtr support. You may need to make some changes there to support the camera/vtr you are using.
