    Hi

I’ve received a 5 page powerpoint presentation via email that needs to be added to a promo video I have shot and then cut on Prem Pro. I’ve tried importing it to the project but to no avail. I know it shouldn’t be that simple but I can’t figure out the conversion/format. How do I save the Power point file in a format that will be accepted by PremPro? If you have the answer please respond as simplistically as possible. I can shoot and cut in one format with confidence but when I have to start importing other stuff my head begins to melt.

    Many thanks in advance

    In PP, File>Save as…
Change the “File of type” to Jpeg
    Use the Jpegs is Pro

Sorry, you will loose all animation.

Best way to save all the animation is to play the PPT through a VGA Scan Converter and record that to a DV deck… I do a lot of event coverage and use an Extron VSC 150 to DV or DVCPRO tape. Very simple to do actually, the Scan Converter hooks up like a VGA monitor and has a loop through as well.

I use a little program called CamStudio from http://www.atomixbuttons.com/vsc that screen captures at full resolution direct to an AVI file. I would do 2 or 3 PPT conversions each week and many have been to air. Makes my scan converter (about $3k’s worth) look cheap. Beauty is if you have a high resolution LCD wide screen 16:9 it will capture that format direct. It used to be freeware.

I just needed to do this myself for a project and couldn’t find the easy answer, so here is what I figured out.

Open your power point file up, I use Power Point 2010 for windows.

Click file, Save and Send, Create video.

You can choose the size, how much time to spend on each slide, and where to save it. Then export it and import it into Premiere Pro CC or any other editing program that excepts WMV video files. Now all of your slides are there with the animations automatically enhancing. Cut it up like you would normally with any video.

    ENJOY!
