hi, I’m working with footage off JVC hard disk camcoder (GZ-MG505u) and have to use softwear that came with the camera CaptyMPEG edit EX in order to convert .MOD and .MOI files into QT and then import them into FCP for edit. The image quality suffers greatly as a result and I havn’t been able to figure out a different way to do it. Any suggestions?

Does this little camera have an HDMI out?

If so you could pick up a Black Magic Intensity card ($300) and digitize that signal to DVC Pro HD or another codec.

    heey

i have a GZ-MG77. what you wanna do is the following thing :
because MOD is just MPEG2 format on these camera’s. just change the extension name (example : myfirstmovie.MOD) to “myfirstmove.MPEG”
no quality loss, nothing. and it works perfectly with editing programs etc.
