    Hi Coo’s

I have exported from AE an image sequence (1 – 47) with an alpha channel (it’s a lightning strike, transparent background). Imported through materials in the color and luminance channel, just trying both to see what happens and the test render always says at least one image is missing. When I hit calculate in the material editor animation menu it always says start frame is one and end frame is one. If I manually type in end frame is 47 it wont render but it does render if only one frame is listed. Is there a problem in naming conventions tha prevent C4D from picking up the other frames? Each frame is listed 01 thru to 47 with an empty space before the number.

    Thanks in advance

Just to quickly add to that I am finding it hard to make the alpha channel transparent when importing the lightning strike as a movie. As I said in the previous post I seem to be able to do this with one TIFF file but not a sequence. How do I check that the .mov file definitely has an alpha channel? I think I exported correctly from AE but my mistake could be there and not in C4D. The Image sequence in TIFF’s are definitely alpha channelled as I have checked those.

Well, if your QuickTime-Movie was exported with an Alpha-Channel…
e.g. “Animation or PNG” with “Millions of Colours +”…

In the Material Editor / Basic / check the Alpha box /
In the Colour-Channel under Texture open that white little Triangle and “Copy Channel” /
Select the Alpha-Tab and open that little Triangle again “Paste Channel” /
In the Editor-Tab check “Animate Preview” /
    Play your animation.

Regarding your image sequence, you might not create an empty space before the number.
(but, I am not sure if that will make a difference…?)

Well that worked except that the lightning comes out black not white. I presume I should put it through the luminance instead of color?

Thanks for the response by the way

    Well, I don’t have After Effects, so can’t say…
Just did a Quicktime Movie test-render from Toon Boom Studio…
Alpha works very well in both, Colour- and Luminance-Channel…
