Hi C4D Experts. Here is my question, hoping you can answer.

I am importing some greenscreen footage that was keyed with an alpha channel. I applied it to a pane as a texture and called out the alpha channel texture so now I have a nice looking person (footage) in my scene and I want to animate objects around him. (Think juggler juggling 3d objects). I need to see the texture (footage on the plane) frame by frame so I can animate my 3d object in position.

When I preview, I see the footage updated to the correct frame but not when I am working in wireframe. Is there a preference I am missing. I hope this post make sense. Essentially how can I view footage brought in as texture while I work animating 3d objects around this footage.

My sincere thanks for your knowledge.

Whew! Thanks much if you do respond. Found what I was looking for in the Texture Attributes “Animate Preview” window. Sorry for the premature post without full due-dilligence in discovering the interface. Tips on animating with greenscreen footage greatly accepted still.

Your best bet is to apply it to a background object. You may need to use the display tag to override your viewport settings, but it should work. The downside is, that it’s only visible in the camera viewport. You can of course also map a polygon/ plane if you need to fly around it. In that case put it on a separate layer with the camera and lock the layer once you’ve matched them up to avoid accidentally moving everything.
