  • IMPORT FCP PROJECTS INTO ADOBE PREMIERE PRO cs4 problems

Posted by Drazen Stader on April 9, 2009 at 6:26 pm

    HI,

I have tried importing my fcp projects via xml into premiere pro cs4.0.1 using method described on this site https://provideocoalition.com/ however I always bump into a problem that crashes premiere pro…

I manage to import the files through FCP xml…but as soon I select the linked clips on the premiere pro timeline and premiere pro gives me the following notice: Whitfield/Mediacore/Backend/Make/Mac/…

and after that it adds another one:

Please check the fcp translation results report for possible issues encountered during the translation…

I run Mac OSX 10.4.11, Final cut 6.0.3., Premiere Pro 4.0.1, The timeline was an SONY xdcam 1080 25p, HQ

If anyone has a thought or even a solution what could be the reason for these issue please let me know….

    thanks

    Hmm, sounds weird.

A couple of minor observations. It might be some little bug that is a combination of the things you’re running. I noticed that you’re not using the latest version of FCP (6.0.5) nor the latest Mac OS. Assuming you’re using the Sony plug-in to translate your XDCAM to ProRes, which should open up fine in Premiere Pro 4.0.1.

I always use XML type 4 (never tried the others but 4 has always worked for me). Have you checked out this particular blog video?

Not that this is probably going to fix it, but if you can update to 6.0.5, you might give that a go as it’s free.
