I’m not sure if this is something simple that I just don’t understand…but I cannot get the import/dvd camcorder disc routine to work. I am usually trying to import footage that I made on a JVC standalone DVD recorder.

The disc spins and the countdown starts…then immediatley end. The message in the bottom left says complete 1 sec. And thats that.

Could it looking for a specific media DVD+R vs DVD-r? I’ve tried everything I can think of to make it work…I’m running 7.0d and this happens on two different computers.

Just a follow-up in case anybody is reading with the same problem.

sony was no help…their tech support said that routine was designed to work on the small camcorder discs not other discs. So I’ve been experimenting. Got a disc from a DVD camcorder and it imported fine. So the routine and my particular install worked. So I made a disc with another burner…and it worked…so for some reason unknown to me….the routine works EXCEPT on discs burned on my JVC recorded.

At this point I’m not sure what the JVC does differently…I guess that will be the next mystery to unravel.

What does the file structure of the DVD look like when burned by the JVC? Open it in the file browser and see…

It looks like any other DVD that’s opened…I can’t tell any difference.

    Folder Video_TS with vobs etc.

Weird really. What I would try to do is the following:

1 – Download DVD Decrypter and “decrypt” your JVC DVD to a folder
2 – Import the DVD from that folder into Sony Vegas

Not sure if that will help, but worth a try as a work-around.
