import bwf files
Posted by Moztu on April 28, 2005 at 12:35 pmhi
anybody knows if there is a way of importing .bwf files into FCP 4.1 or 4.5 or even if it will be possible with FCP 5?
We have been offered this type of sound recording as an alternative to DAT and wanted to know if it was compatible.
thanks

April 28, 2005 at 1:26 pmAs far as I can tell final cut pro does not support bwf files, I am not sure if you can import that file into Itunes and convert the file to a format that fcp likes.

April 28, 2005 at 2:20 pmthanks for the advice.
the thing would be to keep all the information that the file contains and keep it. Would it work if you do it with itunes? does itunes support bwf files? -

April 28, 2005 at 3:44 pmThis has been gone over many times here on this forum. You can do a search for more info. But the tool you will want to use is:
https://www.dharmafilm.com/sebskytools/
There may be other alternatives.

April 28, 2005 at 9:11 pmIf you have BWF poly files with more than 2 tracks of audio, you can use a utility from Fostex called BWF Manager to get them in shape for Sebsky Tools.

April 29, 2005 at 8:23 amFCP will import a bwf file as if it were a standard wav file, without reading the embeded timecode. Make sure the bwf’s are not some fancy sample rate like 88.2 or 96k.
Sebsky will convert the embeded timecode if this is required. If not, then just import the file like any wav or aif.
