Import Anamorphic
Posted by Andy Lancaster on January 4, 2009 at 4:47 pmI am importing footage files that are DVCPRO HD 720p60 960×720
When they are imported anamorphic is checked in the browser and they look stretched out. Is ther a way to set them to import without being anamorphic?Louis Germano replied 17 years, 4 months ago 5 Members · 7 Replies -

January 4, 2009 at 4:49 pmNope. DVCPRO HD is an anamporphic format…it will onl come in anamorphic. Are you sure your sequence settings match the clip settings? Did you choose the proper Easy Setup then make a new sequence?

January 4, 2009 at 8:49 pmThe clips have already been captured to a drive. I am importing them as files. When I do, anamorphic is checked for the clip when I import it, but it looks stretched out in FCP. If I uncheck it, it looks correct. I made the sequence not anamorphic because I dont want to look at my shots stretched.

January 5, 2009 at 12:29 amyou will not want anamorphic checked on an HD project. your project video is already 16:9. unlike an SD project you only have 540×468 and we apply anamorphic to it to make it 16:9. the reason it was anamorphic was a result of a miss checked box in you capture preset..
I hope this helps. Sorry for any mistakes i wrote this on my phone

January 5, 2009 at 4:21 amAs Thomson says, the Anamorphic flag is for standard def only. If your footage is not coming in right, check is the pixel aspect in the FCP Browser.

January 6, 2009 at 3:25 pmmaybe you should walk down the hall and get Daiva to turn off the “anamorphic” button on the Dalet…it’s all her fault!!
