  • iMovie Titling in Final Cut?

    Hey Guys,

I love to use the iMovie titles in some tech reviewing videos, yet final cut is now my native program. I can’t do a good amount of things that I can do in Final Cut, yet those titles are very sexy and turn out great. I was wondering if there was any easier way to use these titles with Final Cut. As of now I export after editing in Final Cut Pro and then import to iMovie add my titles then export again. Very long process being on a 13″ MBP.

You can just export the parts of video that get titling, add the titles in iMovie, export again and bring those back into FCP. Of course depending on you footage and the compression you are using things may fall apart. You may want to look into using Motion for you titling. You can do the titles in Motion and bring them into FCP if it gives you the look you like.

Well for my most recent projects I just decided to only have the iMovie titles on black so I just made an iMovie projects put in my title and boom, also iMovie had some nice tracks that I used to go along with this. I export and import into FCP and that is that. But, with iMovie’s slow performance when exporting it almost as you said “fell apart”. Yet with motion, I have a very hard time with the program as I am just learning it and while I’m only operating on a 13″ MBP it can also be slow. It will just be a matter of time as I learn motion and continue to hate iMovie.
