    Hi folks,

Is it possible to digitise to a fire wire dive using imovie and then take the drive to import those clips to FCP for the edit?

The footage would be off DV tape.

    Cheers

    Hi Paul,
iMovie uses DV Stream files (.DV).
If you capture with iMovie those files needs always to be rendered in FC.

To elaborate on what Rafael said, .dv is not supported by FCP. The reason why you don’t want to use .dv is because .dv does not split the audio and video, which is what you want. That is why with FCP, you can capture JUST audio if you want, or JUST video if you want – because the DV-NTSC codec does split the audio and video.

…I’m pretty sure I explained that correctly.
