I’m creating a slide show using jpg images in FCP. Basically, I’m creating the slide show in Aperture, then copying that timeline into a new timeline. In any case, when I render in FCP, the images get all pixelized. If I simply export Using QuickTime Conversion without rendering, the resulting file looks great! The thing is, I’d like to be able to see the video play within FCP, and the only way I can do that is to render it (Option-R). Any solution would be much appreciated.

Again, I’ve to a 640×360 sequence in FCP that I’m using for a template. I’m exporting a sequence from Aperture with the images. I copy the images from that sequence and paste them into my template sequence. I generally have to resize the images down to 100%. Everything looks fine until I render. Then it’s all pixelated.

Set Canvas to 100% precisely or use a bonafide video production monitor. Only way to tell actual quality. Canvas is not a good place to judge quality, hasn’t been since 1.0.

I can actually see the change take place! The Playhead is over an image in the timeline, and when the render finishes, I see it change to pixelated junk in the canvas! Export to QT is still messed up. Export to QT with no render looks fine.

change the sequence settings to a high quality 720p or something, tell me what happens .

I did play around with that, and exported a 720p90 sequence from Aperture, but the images I’m using are too small, and there was a loss of quality there. Finally I realized that exporting from Aperture is really unnecessary. I mean, it’s really just as easy to bring the images into the FCP sequence, drop them all on the timeline, select them all and change the duration, then change add the default trans to them all in one fell swoop. Far as I can tell, that makes the render issue moot.

Still, I have to wonder why that happens? The images look fine, but once you render the timeline, they get messed up. Doesn’t make sense.
