Hi! I have a problem with custom transition animations in After Effects and can’t seam to find the solution from Google after many hours of searching. So basically I have a project where I have multiple still designs of a logo (over 50 designs) and they are sequenced to change to the next design after one seconds. I have also created a custom transition animation that is supposed to be used to transition between designs. So my problem is how do I apply the transition animation to the image sequence without having to have a separate mask layer and a “set matte” effect for each design/precomp. For example is there a way to have the transition animation happen once in the timeline and the precomps sampling that without having to have the transition animation happen for every precomp at the right time. Or is there a better workflow for creating long image slideshows with custom transition animations. (to clarify I put some screenshots of my project here). Thank you in advance!

When faced with repeating effects, I usually create a template pre-comp with all the fixings.
Then I dupe each template and replace the layer within that comp.

I’ve done slide shows like this and found it easier to have all the images in one comp and just shut off the layers not required.

Its hard to tell someone that after the fact 🙁
