  image quality w/color effect

  New to FCP. When I add a color correct filter or NTSC broadcast legal filter to a clip that has some slightly overexposed areas, I noticed the image shrinks slightly and I loose resolution in the image.

  I am working with DV NTSC footage on FCP 7.

  When I toggle the filter on/off I can see the image ‘soften’ and shrink slightly, and revert back to normal.

  I notice this on the computer screen as well as a broadcast monitor (firewire out).

  Do these filters degrade the image noticeably? Or am I doing something wrong?
