    Hello:

I am working with Sony Vegas Pro9.0 and rendering into AVI NTSC DV in order to print to tape. All project has the filter Broadcast Colors.

The text looks OK in video preview, but after rendered the text looks distorted (see image attached). After printed to tape, the text still looks not OK.

The two texts that doesn’t look OK are generated by the ProType Titler.

The text generated in the standard vegas text tool looks OK.

I tried changing the field order text property to Lowe field first, but got no difference.

    Any ideas will be appreciated.

The DV codec is notorious for messing with titles but it shouldn’t be that bad. It looks like the problem lies with the ProType Titler. If the normal Text generator works then I would use that instead. You can also try changing the resolution of the ProType media and see if starting with higher resolution fixes the problem. Just open the ProType Titler and change the width and height of the event to double NTSC DV (1440 x 960).

Thank you John for your response.

I have done the changes suggested and there isn’t any improvement.

I have rechecked the entire AVI-DV video and I see video artifacts everywhere, the problem is more noticeable in ProType Titles, but it is presents in normal text too and even certain details of video and images.

The video looks perfect when rendered to MPGE-2. But the Client requires delivery in MiniDV tape, and to print to tape I must render to AVI.

Do you know of any other tool to decently convert from MPG2 to AVI-DV?
