image pan aspect ratio problem
hello, i am having problems getting an image pan effect to work properly on a large still image. the image is 838 x 1467, so it is quite tall, and if i choose to maintain the aspect ratio (which is necessary for the writing to be legible) the image is very compressed in the frame. essentially, the look i am trying to get is the equivalent of slowly scrolling down a webpage, but while still being able to read the text. if anybody out there could offer some suggestions or remedies it would be greatly appreciated.

You mentioned 2 things that seem to contradict each other.
If you maintain the aspect ratio (meaning you only use the scale adjustment), then you shouldn’t get any “squeezing”. And given the size of the image, I think it should work using only the scale and position settings.
Now, if by “Compressed” you mean pixelated, then you are probably just looking at a low quality preview window.
Make sure you either use a broadcast monitor or do an export to see the actual final quality.

If you want to scroll through the image use the Motion Controls under the Effects Tab, control image size with them, for further info see Motion Effect under the help index, another way is to use the titler software

It sounds like you are using Premiere 6.x – is that the case?
