I’m trying to subclip a video clip on Final Cut from a DVD I cracked (don’t worry, it’s my own personal portfolio DVD and not a copyrighted one) but it’s not allowing me to. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

    Thanks,

What are the properties of the clip you can’t sublclip? i.e, is it DV or?

It probably does not have a timecode track. Go to the modify menu and add aux timecode.

I got back to my office and confirmed this. Ripped DVD files (at least those created in MPEG Streamclip) do not have Timecode. Open the clip in the viewer and go to Modify > Timecode Choose Frame to Set > First, and then check the Source TC check box. Then you can choose your starting TC number and the type of TC (Drop or NDF).
