    Hi there!

Is there anyway that I can achieve an image mask in After effects?

If not, is there another method I can try to achieve the desired result:

    My composition:
Layer 1: Footage of outside scenery
Layer 2: A Photoshop image of a volcano with an alpha channel.

    What I am trying achieve:
Import the PSD volcano image with a mask attached into After Effects. I then want to hide the volcano image below the mask, and then animate the volcano image moving upwards to reveal itself.

*Making the volcano image look as though it is coming out from the ground in the footage on layer 1.

The mask has a rough texture to it, and using the pen tool instead to create a mask is not the look i am after.

    Thank you,
    Jess

Check out track mattes — this feature lets you use an image as a mask.

    Thank you very much! 😀
That’s exactly what I was wanting to achieve! 🙂
