  • image is narrower than comp width even though same size?

Hey, I’ve had this problem before but I can’t remember how to fix it. I’m sure it’s simple. I imported a rendered image from cinema 4D – 720x480px and my composition is exactly the same size, square pixels. But when I drag the image onto my comp, it appears narrower than the width of the comp even though it says in the project window that it’s exactly the same size. It says (0.90) next to the resolution in the project window though.

How can I get it so when I drag the image onto my comp, it fits exactly within that space.

    Thanks in advance, Eugene

You know? There’s a text preference for high-quality PAR correction.

It’s called “Viewer Odd Zoom Quality” in the preferences file.

It’s not officially supported, so if it affects performance negatively for you, turn it off again.

If I’m reading your post correctly, I think you answered the problem yourself. It seems as though you are placing a .90 PAR image into a square pixel comp. You may want to Interpret the rendered footage as square pixel instead of .90. Right click the footage in the project window and select Interpret Footage>Main. Then select the appropriate PAR for the footage.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I misunderstood your post.

It would be if it used square pixels. The final 4:3 aspect comes from both the pixel dimensions and the pixel aspect.

Dave, I hate to split hairs with you, but this issue confused me for a while until I got it straight, so in an effort to help other people to not be confused by this, I have to say it here.. Isn’t 720×480 technically 3:2 and not 4:3?

so aaaanyways, turns out I didn’t know how to change the squashed look but it’s all good now.

    Thanks all, Eugene
