A client who is trying to do offline editing and viewing only, of digital media, has asked me for advice: buy an iMac, or a MacBook Pro?

No issues of advanced compositing, ability to ingest various media.

I assume the answer is MBP due to firewire issues, but I am not familiar with the latest configurations. Advice please?

    Thanks.

    Hi Bob,
For that kind of jobs, I think the iMac is perfect.
iMacs are faster than MBPs, but the shortcoming is connectivity.
No way to go eSATA; just FW800.
If that is enough for your client, then go to the iMac.
