iMac project file got huge
I’m coming from the PC side(CS3), and working for the first time on an iMac with CS5. My original project file size according to the list on the Finder is 2MB. With that project, I “save as” and have a working project file. I noticed that opening, working and saving the project was getting slower and slower to the point it does nothing now. In the Finder, I see that my Prem project file has somehow ballooned to be 5.61 GB! No wonder the thing is choking. With simply editing in 2 projects and doing a “save” for the current project and “save as” for my back-up project, how did this project get so big and what do I do to rescue my simple 8 minute timeline. What am I missing here, I couldn’t increase project files to this size on my PC even if I wanted to.
The iMac has: 2.8 Quad core, 16GB RAM, 2TB ATA HD.

Have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3) update? The recent updates fix a problem with project files bloating.
