Might be simple, might be impossible- I dont want to buy an Apple display, to be clear right away (don’t have the budget).
New imac (late 2012)- has no firewire 800, which is annoying as I have a lot of drives.
I have firewire drives, so need a thunderbolt to fw800 adapter from them.
that leaves me with 1 thunderbolt port which i use for by sonnet express card adapter (no daisy chaining available).
I would also like to attach a second monitor (vga), but have no ports left for mini display(!)
So, is there perhaps something anyone can suggest?

Maybe a USB 3 to VGA adapter which works with no lag? (Video editor- lag is not an option).
Maybe a USB 3 to fw800 adapter I havent come across?
Ideally some kind of thunderbolt splitter?
Or a Thunderbolt to vga adapter with daisy chaining as well somehow?
