    Hi there,

I know this has been posted about but I was after up to date info.

Its been a realllllly tough time of late.. My first PP project on my 2010 Macbook Pro i5 just hasn’t worked out… Ive learnt a lot but today I am going thru my second major crash… It seems to be Hard Drive Related…

I have a G-Raid mini 1 TB drive and its just died a cruel death again… If there is a slight problem in PP it just hangs and hangs and then I can’t eject it… It died and I have to reformat again… also I’m on 10.6.6 OS which is not good for external drives I just found out…

So anyway its been heart wrenching to have to redo so much editing… and lose stuff etc.

    Its a learning curve and a half…

I think getting a new system might help out… naturally, the money is tight… as it wasn’t even planned for yet… anyway,

This is what I am after (what I can afford anyways)

    iMac
    Hardware
3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
    16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM – 2X8GB
    1TB Fusion Drive
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5

I think it will be ok after doing some reading but yeah I kind of wanted my own opinions from you good people…

    Thanks in advanced

    Exhausted New Guy…

[Dale Roberts] “my 2010 Macbook Pro i5”

It will be an improvement for you. With CC coming, even better I imagine.

[Dale Roberts] “also I’m on 10.6.6 OS which is not good for external drives I just found out… “

-Dale you need to run software update! There is no excuse for not being on the free update to 10.6.8 which was a great OS. For $20 more you could be on 10.8.4 which is also a great OS and may give you better support for your C100 camera.

Maybe you have already done it after my AVCHD tips in 10.8 from the other day?

Those G drives are supposed to be pretty good, maybe it’s the OS or it’s still under warranty?
