Hi, ok yes im new to resolve as it came with my black magic 4k camera. I have followed every step possible from the net including videos etc. I find my footage add to media pool. I can see it, i can wtch it, i can scrub through it. But i cant see it in the colour section nor can i see it in the edit section. I cant drag a clip to the timeline as it wont let me. Ive seen people say i need to add a new timeline but i cant see where i would do this.

The main thing i want to do is do some slight colour correct then render them out as proxys for editing in adobe cc2014. Im wanting to then export from adobe to finish off in resolve.

PLEASE PLEASE can anyone help me. Im using resolve 10 that came with the camera.

    Cheers

Create a new timeline in the Edit mode by right-clicking in the Timeline window (upper left) and choosing “New Timeline.” Give it a name. You should now see a Video and Audio track on the main bottom area. Now you can drag or insert your media to this timeline.

All of this is covered in extreme detail in the manual.

That doesn’t work. I’ve uploaded a video to show you what i mean. I cant get my head round it at all. My main thing im wanting to do is do a slight colour grade then export for proxy’s. But as you can see from the video it doesn’t allow me to.

That simple does not work. I have read the manual and i have tried everything. watching tutorials people just double click the footage, it goes into the master folder in the media pool. they then go over to colour and the footage is visable. When i do it the footage goes in to a master folder which is seperate to the media pool. The footage does not show up in the media pool section.

    Im seriously confused about this.

What version of resolve are you running?
Have you gone to the edit page and hit the + button to make a new timeline.

You have to have a timeline before you can go to the color page.

The tabs at the bottom are in that order for a reason.

I’m running resolve 10. I don’t see any + apart from in the folder section. Ill happily upload another video if you think it may help.

I can see the + sign in the edit page at the end of your video, it’s right there above the media pool.

    Hey David..

relax 🙂 we will sort this out.

Ok, two option to get the footage onto a timline.
For proxy creation you do not even go to the EDIT tab.
Select all your footage, right click and go to the lowest option called
Create Timeline using selected clips….and then just press create new timeline
That will put it all on one timeline in the right order..
The videos you are watching are probably from Resolve 9 where all footage automatically was sitting on a master timeline.
    Thats not the case anymore…

Alternatively you need to act from the EDIT Tab.
Above your Media Pool is a smaller window.
Rightclick there to make a new Timeline
Afterwards you can drag and drop media or insert and append it all at once.

Please ditch the old videos and get Warrens FXPHD class for Resolve 11

That just adds a new folder to the media pool

Ok i may have cracked it. that was some going, i had to update to resolve 11. Now another issue im facing is that once ive rendered out my proxy’s and done some editing in premiere. When i export the XML from adobe and try and open it up in resolve all i am getting is blank videos and an error saying the videos do not match the timecode. Any ideas? Im using a windows 7 machine, filming in 25fps.
