    Hi-

So I need some help here…Illustrator CS4 won’t launch, I get no error message, just a bouncing icon and…nothing.

I’ve tried trashing all the illustrator files in preferences (settings and plist), repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility and even reinstalling Illustrator. No luck.

    No other programs is effected…

    Any ideas?

Add all of your system spec’s to your profile so we can see what you’re working with.

    Have you rebooted?

    Try the following:

    restart holding command S
wait until the black screen appears
after it stops writing stuff you will see a line that reads root# or something like it (can’t remember exactly and would have to reboot to see it)

type fsck -f (the space must be included)

the computer will run a series of tests/operations
it will fix whatever needs to be fixed.
when it’s done it will read the volume [name of your hard drive] appears to be ok.
depending on whether it changed something or not the lien ***FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED*** will be there or not.

    type reboot

try to start illustrator after that.
