Illustrator Resolution Issues when Imported into AFX CS3
I’m stuck trying to get the resolution of an Illustrator file imported into AFX to match the original. I’ve tried all the switches I know in AFX, researched it like crazy, and no luck. I have two screen shots posted HERE. The left one is the original, and the right is the AFX import. I tried to include enough info of the AFX panels to give some clues to what’s gone sideways. Any suggstions? HELP!

I think the problem is you are viewing the comp at 400%.
This is not a true representation of the composition. The final output will be viewed at 100%.
As a test, with ‘continuously rasterize’ on, if you were to keep your comp zoom setting to 100% then increase the scale of your Illustrator layer to 400% then you should see something closer to your original.

It does, because vectors don’t actually don’t stay vectors within AE. Everything is rasterized to the comp resolution, so when you zoom into the comp, things look pixellated.
However, when you click the Continuous Rasterization switch, vectors are continuously rasterized to the comp resolution. With the switch off, the vector is rasterized once, at the original AI document size, but when the switch is on, the vector is rasterized at whatever size to which you scale it up (or down) at every frame of the comp.
But it’s rasterized to the comp size, so it only looks clean when viewing at 100% or less in the comp window. Which is normal, and fine.
