    Hi there,

I receive work made for me in Illustrator10 for composite work it do in FCP.

I have always found working with Tiff files the best in FCP. so i take them from illustrator into photoshop and convert them to tiff files there then import them into FCP.

My problem is that randomly I lose the transparency going from photoshop to FCP. 10 files will be fine then suddenly the 11th isnt. I have tried changing all the saving settings, and am yet to find the root reason for this. It is annoying to say the least.

If anyone can point me in any direction to look i would be greatly appreciative. I have a feeling the issue lies in the original illustrator files maybe. I am basically useless at illustrator, but any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You might try PNG. That’s what I use when FCP doesn’t like a complex PSD. Once you layer masks and layer styles, it seems to go haywire.

I am using tiff files not psd, and its a sporadic thing so i wonder if there is some illustrator setting that is causing it… the only thing outside my control???

personally i find png doesnt seem as good an image as tiff… but maybe i need glasses 🙂

    thanks for your reply!
