I had this problem before and can’t recall the fix; I have two layers in illustrator of outlined text.

when I import into AE 6.0 the file imports but the graphics are missing completely and only 1 of 2 layers appears. again, none of the illustrator text is visible when I bring to the comp.

anybody know what I’m not turning on??

Are you getting the Invalid error? I’ve had issues with Illustrator files coming in as dots, and found that reinstalling After Effects solves it.

no it imports just fine, goes through the motions and when the file imports there is nothing in the preview window nor when I drag it down to the timeline.

    totally frustrated…

Might try making sure checking the box for “PDF compatible file” when you save the AI file.

What version of Illustrator are you using, and what format are you saving your Illustrator files in? Are your files RGB or CMYK?
