    Hi,

Normally, by default I always make my illustrator files 720×540 for broadcast work, and if my layers end up being much larger than that I’m usually bringing artwork into AE7 at “layer size” anyway. It was never a problem to bring in layers larger than the artboard size. Until now. Illustrator CS2 is cropping the display of the “oversized” layer in AE7 to the artboard size, even though it is properly recognizing the size of the layer as being “oversized”. I noticed some older posts reporting the same problem so I called Adobe. The boys at Adobe Tech Support tell me it’s just this way now…Obviously a workaround is to simply increase the artboard size, or shrink the vector graphics. But can I not work the way I used to, or is there something simple happening that I’m missing? It’s an extra step to open stuff in my vector graphics library and have to guess at how big to resize my artboards…

    Any thoughts appreciated,

    Matt

or just make sure your res. is the same as your comp.

if your illustrator file is d1 size ae will probably think it’s rectangular pixels when it’s not. I’d make crop marks or import as a comp with cropped layers which is my favorite and then adjust the comp size before I do any animating.

Or 720×534 for DV sq pixels.
