I haven’t been able to remove the smart punctuation from my Illustrator CS file. I actually want to have inch marks, not quotation marks. Any ideas?

Yeah I brought this up in the CS2 beta. The type >> Smart Punctuation palette does not work correctly. Problem has been around since CS.

You will have to manually go to type >> glyphs, and click on the glyph that has the ” to insert that into your active cursor location.

The font “Universal PI” or “Univ News PI” on PC has a really good inch and foot mark and other types of symbols, you may need.
