I want to build a 3D vector graph as in the image below, namely a 3D spiral with numerically specified steps going up. Those specified steps would need to be inserted numerically.

    0. When I ungroup the 3D object, it becomes 2D again.

    1. When I try to adjust the extrusion depth of a separate subgroup, it seems to be impossible, the 3D settings of the separate object reset, and the overall location & light do not fit the rest of the group any longer

    2. When I extrude the ungrouped spiral, the segments are all over the place.

    3. The only way I managed something close the desired effect is working with stacked segments copied and displaced on top of each previous one, but this is too tedious and I can not use exact numbers for the extrusion depth (which are absolutely necessary for this graph).

    Hey Maarten,

Sorry, this is the A.I. forum (Artificial Intelligence) as opposed to AI (Adobe Illustrator).
We might be able to do a generative version of your graph, but better not.

May I suggest that you head over and post your question in the Illustrator forum:

Sometimes it is also worth asking in the Photoshop or After Effects + expressions forum, as there are some very smart people there too, who works on all axis of video and graphics files.
