December 26, 2009 at 7:44 pm[Mike Cohen] “What bride wants to view her wedding dance with her husband without the actual song she danced to?”
just the ones who don’t wanna pay for the music.
I don’t see a toppling of the industry on the horizon so much as less pirating once one guy gets nabbed… and it’s coming.
Wedding dudes almost feel like free music is owed to them for no other reason than that’s what their competition does. If I were a drug dealer and tried to use that as a defense, I’d not have to take many days off for a trial. lol
There is no gray area here. People either steal or they don’t.
The good news is wedding videos will multiply in price when the man starts shutting down the pirates. Those of us in the video business will be able to bid on these otherwise cheap and poorly done videos.
This is a good thing. It’s crazy that many wedding vids come in less than the still photog who did a fraction of the work. This will have a trickle up effect. When fathers of the bride start realizing the video they want of the big day that will only happen a few times tops (lol) is worth well into 5 figures, he’ll hardly haggle later when talking to the same company about a corporate video. The problem is not brides asking for an 8 hour shoot and a week of post with protected elements in it for 2 grand. The probloem, of course, is the people that so no problemo to this. This is what will change when they have to start paying for their elements.
