I’m editing a very long (2.5 – 3 hr.) seminar video on a Media100 iFinish (V80), Windows 2000. During playback, my program experiences a “codec crash” and immediately ends the playback, jumping to the end of my sequence on black. It’s disrupting my ability to provide my client with a progress DVD proof copy. It also has me worried that I won’t be able to make it through a MPEG2 conversion for the final DVD mastering stage.

The program consists of video of the presenter, and imported PowerPoint slides that I drop in progressively on the timeline. The codec crash seems to happen most often on these imported slide clips, and especially if I use a dissolve or wipe between the slide and presenter. I don’t want a cuts-only program for 2.5 hours!

    Please help. Thanks!

If you’re running QuickTime 7 try uninstalling and going back to QuickTime 6. I know QT7 does not work properly with the ifinish codec.
