Well, tonight is just a bug-fest for me. Although in this case the blame rests solely with Stupid Google. Sorry if this is already a known problem.

As many of you know, Youtube will nag you relentlessly to connect your account to either your Google + Profile or to Google+ Pages. Earlier today I caved and chose the lesser of the evils, the Google+ Pages option. It seemed benign until a few minutes ago.

Here is the feedback I presented to Google when I disconnected my channel from Google+ Pages:
    ——–
When I connect my channel to my Google+ page, it breaks Sony Vegas Pro 12’s ability to use the “upload to Youtube” function, which is essential for me to publish to my channel. When the account is linked, Sony Vegas 12 (build 770) returns the error “Failed to link to channel.” When I connect my channel to my Google+ page, it breaks Sony Vegas Pro 12’s ability to use the “upload to Youtube” function, which is essential for me to publish to my channel. When the account is linked, Sony Vegas 12 (build 770) returns the error “Failed to link to channel”. After I disconnected, I was able to use the “upload to Youtube” function.

Until this is fixed, I cannot link my channel to Google+ pages. Please work directly with Sony Creative Software to fix this problem.

If you link your YouTube channel to Google+, you’ll like YouTube a lot less in general. I hate the integration of Google+, which they somehow managed to make even worse by making the ability to find comments on your channel even more obscure and bug filled, though they finally reverted back to the less bad option that they had already just put in place.

You need to report this problem to Sony. They probably need to tweak their sign in mechanism. Youtube is a big enough feature that Sony will want to fix their issue(s).

Youtube and Google+ are Google’s products and if the rest of the world wants to work with them it is those other products to detect and adjust to how Google allows those actions to function. Youtube is not going to contact Sony development and say, hey we here your product has issues uploaded, how can we help. This assumes one knows how to “contact Sony”.

    Yep, I plan to.

I think the problem is that after one’s YT account is linked to Google+ Pages, when one logs in, a secondary window pops up asking which account one desires to use to manage the YT channel. Vegas probably chokes on the second window.

With Google+ Pages, it is possible to setup multiple management accounts. It is intended for “businesses” vs just a personal page. That is far better than just letting them link one’s Google + Profile, which has your real name, other personal stuff, and would replace the channel name with your real name.
