  • If I upgrade from to Pro, will my old VMS projects still work?

I am currently using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9. If I get rid of it and buy Vegas Pro 9, will I be able to work on my old VMS9 projects from Vegas Pro without having to re-do them?

I would be doing a completely new fresh install of Vegas Pro.

    In theory, yes you can.
Pro will open VMS projects but not the other way around.
If I was you, I’d install Pro and keep VMS around for a short time just to make sure that everything is working as expected.
There won’t be any problems having both on one machine.

    Mike K –

You allude to the compatibility of having both VMS9 AND Vegas Pro 9 installed on the same machine.

I have VMS9 installed now, and want to upgrade to Vegas Pro 9. Are you saying I only need to install Pro 9 and not worry about uninstalling VMS9 until such time as I’m ready to remove it?

Just trying to be clear about how to proceed without mucking it up.

    Thanks,
    Judah

Judah, I currently have 3 different versions of Vegas Pro (7, 8 & 9) as well as two versions of DVD Architect Pro (4 & 5) installed on my machine and they all get along very nicely.
Since each program installs to it’s own folder, there shouldn’t be any conflicts.
