There’s what looks like a mini representation of the timeline that many times floats over the picture. I may have turned it on inadvertently and now don’t know how to get rid of it. Any ideas would be much appreciated. OS is 10.14.6 and FCPX is 10.4.7.

Do you have CommandPost installed on your machine?

That’s something from CommandPost. I can’t remember exactly what it is, but it’s basically an overlay of your entire timeline so you can see where you are, since FCPX doesn’t have a proper scrolling timeline.

Poke around in your CommandPost settings for a timeline overlay and see what you can find. Turn it off and that should go away. If it doesn’t, uninstall CommandPost and reinstall it.

Thanks. I’m looking at CommandPost now and hope to find how to turn the mini timeline on and off.

It might be “Show timeline in player”.
