I can live with all that, what I cannot live with and would change in the wink of an eye is the ability for FCP to actually do high quality bicubic resizing, for still images and video.

Sony Vegas does it perfectly and so should final cut pro.

I do find it annoying that for some reason our FCP system’s external video output settings always seem to default to “none”, all by themselves, at irregular intervals. Why the heck they wrote the software that way beats me but this often drives us nuts. Its an editing application: I’m pretty sure most of us usually WANT to see all frames at all times. Yet our system always seems to default to “none”, and somtimes we forget to check this setting while torubleshooting, because it seems so unintuitive. if somebody has a permanent fix for this I’d love a link.

My other peeve remains: get the $%#^$% BluRay funtionality going on FCP and FCP>DVDSP already! It is an insult to have to buy an Adobe program just to burn my stuff to BluRay.

I would love to have better input and output modules for FCP. Like someone said, why can’t I see the TC and audio levels?

Well, I’m sort of new to FCP, but have done avid and discreet edit for a looong time. I think the most unprofessional thing in FCP is that you can not see the audio levels when you capture! I mean you could at least control something from your board if it got too loud or too soft (if you could see it). Software editing programs have been doing that since 1997 or so. Also, disappearing waveforms and long waveform times to draw are frustrating.

It should draw them once then cache them and never again redraw….like Vegas!

one small annoyance that used to not be … being able to just click next to your video track to select it instead of them adopting Avid’s click and drag. just plain inefficient.
