if i acquire/render in DV/CPRO/50, am i good for Compressor?
i remember the talk of media100i files not looking right when converting to mpeg2 using compressor, but what if your codec is dv or dvcpro or dvcpro50 which is 720×480? is it supposed to work on paper?
i had ok results using mpeg streamclip to rip a file from a dvd, convert to DV codec, edit in media100, export a reference (all the contained clips were in DV), and then export reference to compressor for DVDSP. havent done a test by acquiring to DVCPRO50 yet, but wanted to know if anyone else has.
im looking for a software solution now as opposed to my traditional hardware analog MPEG2 encoder. hoping this produces equally good results. since i also own the fc suite, hoping to be able to use compressor instead of having to buy bitvice. thanks

Yes, you should be good to go. DV-based material from Media 100 uses the FullRGB colorspace in QuickTime applications, so Compressor should work as expected. Only make sure your Field order is set up correctly in Compressor, the “Auto” setting does not work very reliable.

so does that mean i’ll always be going lower? isnt all 720×480 material lower field first? for me i was only able to get a good playback when choosing “auto” … when i set it to lower, i would get “choppy” playback on set-tops. i guess ill do some more experimenting…. thanks floh
