Trying to download the update via the App Store I get this message:

Final Cut is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.

Of course, there’s nothing in Software Update.

Anybody else having this problem or knows how to solve it?

    Thanks.

I had this exact issue. I don’t know what caused it except for the fact that since I have FCP7 installed on the same partition, I have FCPX in a folder in my applications folder. Tends to create havoc for the app store downloader.

Trashed FCPX (did NOT empty trash), and it downloaded fine.

Thanks, Andy – I thought it might be something like that. Downloading now.

Try going to your “Purchased” section in the App Store, hold down the Option key and click the name of the app. Then hold Option again and click the Install button. This works for re-downloading the Lion Installer, not sure if it also applies to other purchases.

    Best,
    Andy

EDIT: looks like you got it sorted.

Andy Neil’s suggestion of temporarily hiding in the Trash worked fine, but thanks for the other recommendations.

    Are you on Lion, yet?

Not yet – waiting for a gap in the crazy maelstrom of work that is flying my way to get myself properly sorted. However I’ve got all the updates up and running now – all looking good. Multicam, yum – very tasty!!!

    I hear you.

I’m just saying that with Lion, you can just download the delta and not the whole program again.

It’s faster if that’s of interest to you.
