Ideas for FCPX/RESOLVE broadcast monitoring hardware
Hey Guys,
I run an 8 core macpro with fcpx and resolve, using them both very frequently. I also use premiere/MC6 from time to time if I client requests it. I’ve recently started doing more basic finishing work though and as such need to upgrade my setup to include broadcast monitoring. That said, I need to keep my costs as low as possible.
So far, I’m leaning towards getting a decklink intensity pro ($199) and this panasonic 21.5 inch monitor https://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/BT-L2150PJ.asp?category=studio-field ($1800)
This setup sound good to you guys? Anything I should be looking at that might be better in that price ranger or less costly?

You might want to consider a Decklink UltraStudio 3D instead of the Intensity as the latter is not officially supported for Resolve workflows.

I’ve been happy with Decklink HD Extreme 3D cards. You’ll tend to see more complaints about the Intensity cards. Monitoring for FCP X is problematic right now. AJA does the best so far, but that can’t work with Resolve. The monitoring interaction in FCP X is crude at best for all products.

Avoid the Intensity Pro if your planning on using FCPX on Snow Leopard 😛
Just doesn’t work.
I have to use it in Lion and Im not all that happy with that. -
External monitoring in fcpx is not officially supported in snow leopard. Seems to require lion os hooks.
