Ideas for extra shortcutting the Move Playhead to a Timecode function
Hello,
Can anyone think of a way to avoid having to enter 00 at the end of each timecode when I use ctrl+P to shortcut the Move Playhead to Timecode function?
E.g. I want to go to the 23 minute 05 second mark of my clip. Under my current workflow I press ctrl+P then 230500. That’s because final cut has the timecode format HH:MM:SS:FF and fills from the right hand side. How can I adjust the inputting of my timecode so I don’t have to specify frames (FF)? Long shot I know haha…

Use periods in places where a colon or semi-colon would go. So 00:04:25:00 could quickly be typed in as 4.25. then hit enter, and FCP will fill in the zeros for you. Very fast.

Hey Ben and Brie,
I’ve just come across the paste timecode function. If your transcript timecodes are set up correctly then you can simply copy the timecode from your transcript and then all you’re doing in fcp is using a shortcut to paste the timecode in which moves the playhead to that point.
My previous workflow has been look at timecode, use move playhead short cut, type in timecode!
